Media Tools of Visual Art

Time and culture has provided a way for us capture images frozen in time and project these images onto the page in a two dimensional representation of three dimensions. Painting takes these images and expands them with the sensibility of this conversion of experience to art, image to surface.

Sculpture in its revelation of itself has the ability to recreate discovery; i.e. all sculpture is kinetic. When a viewer approaches a sculpture not all parts of the sculpture are seen immediately ,as the viewer moves around the piece, the sculpture is revealed.

Painting to me is concerned with place and describing that space through color theory with special attention to relative value of the colors. In a landscape painting this could be described as atmospheric perspective. Abstract paintings can use the same color and pictorial space tools.

The Performing Arts/ The Visual Arts

The power of temporality as a mirror to the human condition, informs all aspects of the performing arts. The power of physicality and evidence of process provide the visual artsa unique perspective when we consider time, history and temporality. These objects and hence these ideas may be seen without being defined by their current placement.

The Caveat of the " foul rag and bone shop of the heart "

Combining painting and sculpture allows me a unique way to reflect the visual and emotional world. Paintings and sculptures are much more than a few rules and are of course rooted in intuition and feeling. Content is as important as medium.

"I must lie down where all the ladders start, in the foul rag-and-bone shop of the heart."
