Winnipeg, Manitoba – August 12, 2014 – Gurevich Fine Art is pleased to announce Carole Freeman has joined the gallery. Freeman is famous for her stunning and often comical portraits on mylar. She is a Canadian artist whose career spans three decades. Highlights include exhibits in Montreal, Toronto, London and Los Angeles where her paintings hang alongside works of Picasso, Hockney and Matisse.

A self-defined “re-emerging artist” Freeman’s work is a study in the observation of life and people. Combining critical study, empathy, ironic juxtaposition and eccentric humour her works pop with magic and sincerity. She is an artist who works to showcase her methodology. Each painting is awash with seemingly abstract sweeps of colour. Yet, together each stroke produces gestural images that capture the subject’s portrait and personality.

In 2010 and 2011 Freeman caught the eye of The Toronto International Film Festival, where her exhibit Portraits of Facebook was opened by Jordan Banks, Managing Director of Facebook Canada. In 2012, Freeman reached national acclaim when she was invited to speak and presented her work during the Canadian Arts Summit in Banff, Canada. The annual summit brings together chief executives, art directors and board chairs from Canada’s largest 50 not-for-profit cultural organizations.

Freeman is now represented in private and public collections in Canada, the U.S.A, Italy, Ireland, Australia and England. She has been highlighted in The Globe and Mail, The National Post, and Now Magazine as well as on several blogs including Akimbo Art, ArtDaily Newsletter, Artslate and Los Angeles Magazine. Freeman will be part of Gurevich Fine Art’s group exhibition In Celebration of Women’s Art in September 2014.
